AA Travel Advice – Thunderstorms And Heavy Rain
The AA is issuing advice to drivers, just as many were hoping the worst of this late summer’s weather was over. The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for localised thunderstorms and heavy showers across a large part of England and Wales.
Areas of South Wales and the South West; East and West Midlands; East of England and London and the South East could experience adverse conditions between Friday lunchtime and Saturday evening. Where heavy downpours occur spray and sudden flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures.
Chris Wood, AA Patrol of the Year, said:
“Driving conditions could change rapidly with very little warning and catch out weekend travellers who are less regularly exposed to bad weather driving conditions. Should you get caught in these conditions, The AA is advising motorists to reduce speed and leave more space between themselves and other vehicles.
“If you need assistance, it’s quicker to report an incident to us via our app or online than it is to call, although we are always ready to help you whichever way. And, please remember that it could take longer to reach you in these conditions.”
