Beach App Helps Spain’s Battle With Covid

The Balearic Islands are rolling out a new app titled SafeBeach, enabling tourists to check real-time visitor levels at beaches and authorised bathing areas across the Balearic Islands.

The app will display which beaches are less crowded and which are at full capacity so that both tourists and residents can make informed decisions about where to spend their day at the beach.
SafeBeach App will be updated five times a day to provide accurate information. When beaches reach a 70% capacity rate, the App automatically issues a warning to the 112 Emergency Services so the authorities can manage the visitor levels.

This initiative was successfully piloted around the beaches of Palma last summer season and will now be executed throughout all beaches around the archipelago. www.illesbalears.travel/en
