Fun In Arabic – UAE’s Ras Al Khaimah Launches Boost Campaign

The first city in the world to receive the ‘Safeguard Assurance’ label – the United Arab Emirates’ Ras Al Khamimah - has launched a campaign to boost its ‘post-covid’ fortunes.

The WANASA initiative, roughly translating as happiness, fun or excitement in Arabic, is targeting UK families by giving them the chance to visit the country until mid-September, with the support of a late summer which includes discounts at 3*, 4* and 5* hotels for a stay of 3+ nights. Children under 12 go free.

With a 40-mile coastline washed by the turquoise waters of the Arabian Gulf, there are plenty of pristine beaches and Ras Al Khaimah’s £96 million investment in sustainable tourism enterprises makes its action-packed desert and mountain hinterland impossible to ignore.

Ras Al Khaimah is also the first city worldwide to receive the ‘Safeguard Assurance’ label from Bureau Veritas, as well as the World Travel and Tourism Council’s (WTTC) Safe Travels stamp.

The world-famous Jebel Jais zipline – the longest in the world – and the Bear Grylls Explorers Camp will soon be joined by a network of prepared hiking trails; the Jais Sledder: a toboggan running for more than a mile through thrilling mountain scenery; paragliding; and tethered hot air balloons offering spectacular views.

Mountain accommodation options will include the pop-up eco-lodge Earth Hotels Altitude; the Cloud7 sustainable glamping concept; and the on-trend, back-to-basics Basecamp Jais, offering affordable accommodation and a range of challenging outdoor activities.Back at the beach the Marjan island development will bring a marina, an inflatable aqua park, a swimming pool, and outdoor dining; and the Scallop Ranch at Al Hamra Marine will not only offer visitors the opportunity to dive for their dinner but also serve as an education centre for marine ecology.

With daily highs rarely dipping below 24 degrees, even in January, and reaching 30+ degrees in October, plus hotels and attractions open year-round, Ras Al Khaimah is a destination designed for nature and outdoor lovers, looking for an Autumn break or some well-deserved winter sun.
