HRH Queen Elizabeth

A North Duffield artist called Shany Hagan has just finished a painting with a difference. The painting is called The Jubilee High Tea.

Shany Hagan is a mum to one son and spends her time painting and donating her art to different charities, so far raising over £250k for some 30 charities. She paints for the NHS, celebrities and their charities, film covers and Royal commissions.

She started painting two years ago after having eye surgery and wanted to give something back after the NHS restored her vision through a miracle operation. Her art has been recognised by lots of celebrities and Shany believes her sight being restored, enabling her to paint, has been for a reason and so uses her artistic skills to help people.

Shany thought about painting the Queen as she is celebrating her Platinum Jubilee this year, but wanted to think out of the box as she said lots of artists would be painting the Queen this week. Instead of painting using paint her portrait of Her Majesty has been created using edible ingredients, namely Yorkshire Tea, with some food colouring and a hint of homemade jam. She said it was a difficult painting to do and took her a week to complete.

The painting is to be sold and the money donated to Harbour Place in Grimsby, a charity supporting rough sleepers and homeless people throughout North East Lincolnshire.
