The results are in, it’s going to be lonely this Christmas as 42% of adults admit that they will be putting the Christmas tree up alone. What’s more, a further 41% believe that decorating the home has become too competitive.

With 60% having no colour scheme, and nearly half (46%) admitting they spend no time at all planning the decorations, it comes as no surprise that the average spend on the festive trimmings in the UK is just £39 per household.

But despite the apparent chill in the air, it’s not all bah humbug as HARIBO’s Marketing Manager, Jessica Hardcastle, explains.

She comments:
“Although the findings from our festive survey suggest that decorating the home will be a lonesome experience this year, 67% of the 2,000 surveyed did say that they felt it was a fun activity.

“That’s why HARIBO is on a mission to encourage people to use #DecoratingDay as the perfect excuse to have some fun. We want to see families wearing matching pyjamas, turning up the festive tunes and sharing some sweet treats while embracing the perfectly imperfect that comes with letting the children loose with the fairy lights and tinsel.

“Whatever day you choose to deck the halls, we want families to embrace the excitement that comes with doing it together!”

Further fun findings from the survey found that nearly half (48%) of people put up their tree before the 10th of December, with 16% confirming their spruce will take centre stage before the 30th of November.
In addition, 35% will fill their festive fir with ornaments that have sentimental value, as 71% follow the same traditions when decorating their homes that they do each year.

The UK’s leading sweet manufacturer will use its latest Christmas Campaign #DecoratingDay to encourage families throughout the UK to decorate the house and tree together this Christmas.

HARIBO thinks the countdown to Christmas is more fun when shared. As such, the brand will post examples of the perfectly imperfect scenes from content creators and fans across its social channels in the run up to the festive occasion.
