New Hiking And Cookery Break

Renowned for her expert-led cookery courses, Annie B’s Spanish Kitchen is introducing a new active holiday for 2021.

Guests on this new small group hiking and cookery trip will learn about Andalucian cusine as much by lacing up their hiking boots as by tying their apron strings!
The small group will join Annie and local hiking expert Carlos for a six-day holiday of cooking and walking based in the beautiful White Town of Vejer de la Frontera.
Hike & Eat In Cadiz
Guests will understand both terrain and terroir on this new group trip to Spain, combining cookery classes and market visits with two days of hiking in the Andalucian countryside.

Guests join local environmental guide Carlos Milburn Rodríguez to learn about the area’s flora and fauna, including their culinary uses, whilst enjoying wide-ranging views over the sierras and across the Costa de la Luz to Morocco.
Highlights will include the pine forest of La Breña, the largest in Cadiz, visiting one of the biggest dovecots in Europe, and the chance to watch Griffon vultures in flight.

With the days on the trail building an appetite, guests will tuck into a tapas tour of Vejer de la Frontera with gusto and enjoy two cookery classes with Annie Manson, a cookery teacher and Sherry expert, where recipes might include Gambas Ajillo or hake & romesco sauce.
The itinerary’s afternoons are left empty so that guests can enjoy their own siestas, or venture out to one of the excellent local beaches, which receive more sunlight than anywhere else in Europe. Throughout the trips guests will stay at the superb La Casa del Califa, Vejer’s premier boutique hotel, with its restaurant included in the Michelin Guide.

Cookery teacher and Sherry educator Annie has built a reputation for her courses and tours. Originally from Scotland, her foodie connections in her new home town are second to none and she has been officially adopted by Vejer de la Frontera in the province of Cadiz for services to local gastronomy. Hiking guide Carlos is an environmental scientist from Spain who has worked in the ecological consultancy and conservation fields for many years in Spain, UK and Canada.

Price: from €1,750pp sharing, including 5 nights’ B&B accommodation, a tapas tour, 2 cooking classes, 2 days’ guided hiking, market visits, farewell dinner and transfers with Annie B’s Spanish Kitchen.
