Over 50’s Raring To Travel Again

The travel hungry 50+ market is set to resume its travel adventures now that the inoculation programme is well on its way.

That’s the view of Chris Simmonds, CEO of Holidays at Saga, the leading provider of products and services for customers over the age of 50.

So far, there has been:

• An increase in the number of people booking long-haul and ones in a lifetime adventures – 2022 is up over 90% on the same period last year suggesting an appetite to go on “once in a lifetime” holidays
• People want to go away for longer – Up from a previous average of 13 to 18 (nearly 40% increase), which suggests those wanting to get away want to do so for longer
• 16% increase in traffic to holidays website with a 98% increase in conversion to sales – Those searching for trips are now more confident to book

Mr Simmonds, said that people over 50 are “hungry to travel”, with once-in-a-lifetime trips next winter to destinations such as Uzbekistan and Uganda proving particularly popular, adding that Saga’s customers are “very adventurous and thinking about spoiling themselves”. UK and Ireland trips are also seeing an increase in interest.
