Relish Joins Forces With Paddington Bear In Australia

Cumbrian artisan condiment makers Hawkshead Relish recently had the opportunity to represent the Northwest and the wider UK whilst helping to raise awareness of the region’s exemplary food and drink offer on the international stage.

The multi-award-winning family business joined forces with The British Consulate in Sydney, Australia, along with a very special guest to celebrate British innovation and invention in the creative industries and across the food and drink sector.

The special event held at Paddington Town Hall, Sydney, marked the launch of Paddington 3 or to give its correct title Paddington In Peru. Several hundred guests gathered to sample the very best of British food and drink and meet a certain inimitable brown bear with a penchant for marmalade sandwiches - none other than Paddington Bear himself - whose tales brim full of earnest good intentions and humorous misadventures continue to charm audiences worldwide.

During proceedings, the assembled guests enjoyed hearing from members of the Department for Business and Trade team in Australia, who highlighted several export successes and showcased some of the opportunities open to businesses seeking to work with British companies from the creative industries as well as food and drink sectors. Whilst enjoying a glass of Hampshire’s finest Louis Pommery English Brut and tucking into marmalade sandwiches, made with Hawkshead Relish’s delicious collection with flavours on offer including Seville Orange, Orange & Honey, Five Fruit Marmalade, Christmas Marmalade - Pink Grapefruit & Gin and Orange & Whisky Marmalade proved to be particular favourites among guests. Though as you would expect these two were kept well away from the paws of a certain brown bear!

Jonathan Robb, Managing Director of Hawkshead Relish commented:
‘’As Department for Business and Trade Export Champions for the North of England we were thrilled to be asked to contribute to the special event held at Paddington Town Hall, Sydney, Australia. As a company, we are constantly exploring new markets and to have the opportunity to get our award-winning products in front of key international decision-makers is hugely important. This is why I would encourage any business looking to enter new markets or starting to export for the first time, to get in touch with the DBT team in the North of England to find out about the support on offer to help them realise their full international business potential.”
