A fast-growing accountancy and professional services group has increased its regional turnover from £3.5 million to nearly £14 million over a five-year period across Cheshire and Liverpool.
DJH, which is backed by private equity firm Tenzing, marked the milestone at an event for more than 100 professionals at Chester Racecourse. The group first established its presence in the area with the acquisition of Morris & Co at Cheshire Oaks Business Park in 2021.
Since then, regional revenues rose to £8 million following the integration of Haines Watts Chester last year. The group's footprint has been further expanded by its Liverpool city centre office and the recent acquisition of SB&P in nearby Bootle, bringing total revenues across the four offices to just under £14 million.
During this period of expansion, the group's headcount in Cheshire and Liverpool increased by 90 people to 152. This workforce includes 40 trainees currently studying for professional qualifications.
Desirie Lea, Director at DJH Chester, said: “We recognised early on the potential that Cheshire and Liverpool offered and have spent the last five years building an accountancy and professional services offer that understands the local market and has the necessary resource - across auditing, accounting, tax and corporate finance - to unlock its potential.
“The last twelve months have seen us more than double in size and there are plans in place for us to increase revenues across the region to £16m by 2027 – this will be achieved through organic growth and enhanced specialist services offered across the group.”
She added: “The event was about celebrating our commitment to Cheshire and Liverpool. We brought together over 100 professionals from across the region, including accountants, business advisers, solicitors, bankers, and other specialists, for an evening of networking and conversation.
“We believe the best outcomes for clients happen when the right people know each other and work together. This celebration was a great opportunity to strengthen those connections and to celebrate what's been a remarkable period of growth for us here.”
The Chester-based operation focuses on supporting owner-managed businesses, alongside specialist sectors including franchises, ophthalmic practices, and dental surgeries. The firm states that it supports more than 2,500 dentists across the UK annually.
The group has recently modernised its Cheshire Oaks office premises. Its service portfolio includes auditing, tax planning, research and development (R&D) incentives, wealth management, and employment law advice.
James Beardmore, Chief Operating Officer at DJH, said: “Cheshire and Liverpool are full of opportunity, and we now have the team, the expertise, and the infrastructure to make the most of it.
“Both areas boast dynamic, growing economies, and we're excited to be part of that story. Our focus now is on deepening our relationships with clients and the wider business community in the region, continuing to attract great people, and making sure our local teams have everything they need to do brilliant work.”
The group's acquisition strategy continued recently with the purchase of Loucas, marking its 20th transaction since 2020. This latest acquisition brings the firm's total headcount across the UK and Ireland to more than 800 people.
