Alastair Morris, Managing Director of Huddersfield-based precision engineering component distributor Accu, has been named as one of Britain’s most impactful manufacturers, part of The Great 100 recently revealed by Made in Group, the organisation behind Made in the Midlands, Made in Yorkshire and Made Futures!

The Great 100 recognises individuals who have been nominated by colleagues, customers, suppliers or educators, for making a real difference in manufacturing. This involves creating jobs, supporting local suppliers, driving innovation, promoting sustainability and helping young people to enter careers in manufacturing and engineering. This accolade is the latest boost to Accu’s rapidly growing profile in the manufacturing sector, after recently winning the prestigious title of International Company of the Year at Insider Media’s Northern International Trade Awards.

Alastair Morris, Managing Director of Accu, explains: “This is a great accolade to receive! I am passionate about driving forward UK manufacturing, engaging young people’s interest in the industry and celebrating innovation across the sector, so it is great to receive this recognition from Made in Group.”

Jason Pitt, CEO of Made in Group, said: “We created the Great 100 to shine a national spotlight on the people who keep our incredible manufacturing sector moving. These awards celebrate those who are Backing Britain every day through hard work, collaboration and a commitment to industry excellence.

Made in Group held an awards celebration for the Great 100 at the Century Club in Soho, hosted by Lord Whitby of Harborne, Chairman of the Group.

Lord Whitby presented the awards, praising the Great 100 recipients for their enduring commitment, leadership and positive impact in their businesses and communities. The evening also featured a performance by award-winning comedian Tom Ward, rounding off an uplifting celebration of British manufacturing talent.

At the reception, more than 120 Made in Group members and supporters called on the government to support British manufacturers with fairer procurement policies and a national Buy British approach, giving domestic businesses meaningful opportunities to compete for public contracts.

Over the next 12 months, the Great 100 impactful manufacturers will have the opportunity to share their personal story, supported by Made in Group, demonstrating the challenges they have faced, their achievements and their vision for the future. This will help the wider public understand the people behind the products they use every day.
