For many of us the New Year is a formative period to make key changes in areas including jobs and careers, financial, health, lifestyle - and relationships.

In our extensive experience, the majority of unhappily married and cohabitating couples do not suddenly decide to split up as the clock strikes midnight on December 31st.

One, or both of them, may well have been thinking about separating for some time while hoping that their relationship may improve. Sadly, in many cases things don’t improve and the strains of the festive period often trigger a decision to make the break.

If you are in this situation - and want to know more about divorce and the divorce process, sign up for a ‘Navigating Divorce’ virtual event on Wednesday, January 10 2024, from 19:00 - 20:30pm.

Hosted by The Divorce Magazine, I’m delighted to be an expert panellist in my role as a Partner at Jones Myers who is a Family Law Mediator, Child Inclusive Mediator and Collaborative Family Lawyer.

Focusing on ‘The Different Ways to Divorce,’ I will give insights on how you can find the right divorce lawyer and options to choose from such as family mediation and collaborative family law which avoid a lengthy, stressful, and costly court process. I will also be explaining DIY divorce and what is involved.

The Navigating Divorce session will also cover ‘Understanding the Divorce Process’ which will explain No-fault divorce and how it works along with how to apply for a divorce and the best way to prepare for it.

‘The Financial Aspects of Divorce’ will also be explained. They will encompass how to plan for retirement post-divorce including pensions and property, managing financial disclosures and spousal and child maintenance. There will also be a 30 minute question and answer session.
