Cumbrian Hotel Changes Hands In £1m+ Deal

Ravenstone Lodge
Ravenstone Lodge, a nine-bedroom boutique hotel in Cumbria overlooking the Bassenthwaite Valley, has been acquired by the owners of the neighbouring Ravenstone Manor Hotel.

The specialist Hotels team at commercial real estate firm Colliers sold the hotel which sits in three acres of mature gardens off a guide price of £1.245 million.

Formerly three cottages, a coach house and stables to the Ravenstone Manor house, the lodge was converted into a hotel in the 1950s.

Mike and Jane Cornish acquired the business in 2007 and after personally running the business and sensitively refurbishing the property during the last 15 years have sold it in order to retire.

Mike Cornish said: “We’ve had a great time running our own business in these beautiful surroundings, creating a hotel we’re proud of and making many memories with our guests.

"We’re really pleased to be handing the business over to a company that is really dedicated to preserving high quality hospitality in the region.”

Ravenstone Lodge is now returning back into the fold of Ravenstone Manor, as buyer Mawdsley Bleachers Limited operate the neighbouring hotel Ravenstone Manor and three other hotel businesses in Lake District National Park.

Charlie Mawdsley from Mawdsley Bleachers Limited said: “We’re delighted to have acquired Ravenstone Lodge and are looking forward to bringing it within our current offering.

"The Lake District National Park continues to be a strong draw for domestic and international tourism thanks to its stunning scenery and the quality of activities available within the region.”

As well as nine-letting rooms Ravenstone Lodge includes a 26-cover restaurant in the former coach house, as well as a 16-seat bar in the former stables which still includes feed troughs and hay shoots.
