A happy band of dogs and their owners enjoyed a special walk around Dalston led by Paragon Veterinary Group to celebrate International Dog Day.

It’s the second year that the team at Paragon have organised a group dog walk to celebrate this special occasion, and Vet Graham Lewis led the way with his dogs Clova and Skye.

He said:
“Our first group walk last August was really enjoyable, and a number of people asked us to do it again."

“It is great to see so many wagging tails and smiles. We had nice weather once again and a great turnout. This walk round Dalston is one of my favourites. It is easy and scenic, with plenty of time for a chat and making friends. Exercise and socialising are good for dogs and for us too.”

Lisa Cuthbert did the walk with her Red Cockapoo Hollie.
“I think the walk is a great idea just to socialise and meet new people, and it’s always a good idea to find new walks,” she said. “Sometimes we always seem to go on the same walk, so it’s been nice.”

“The turnout was quite big. It’s been really nice meeting all the different people and the different dogs.”
Said Katy Smith, who joined the walk with her dog Thea. “It’s been a really nice event. We’ve not been here before, so it was nice to see somewhere new. It’s been a really nice way to share International Dog Day.”

The walk is one of six featured in Paragon’s popular Cumbria Dog Walking Guide, and this was the third walk organised by Paragon. In May, Vet Laura Binnie led another walk selected from Paragon's guide, in Wetheral, to mark National Walking Month.

Paragon’s guide is free and features six of the best dog walks in Cumbria ranging from easy to adventurous. ‘Come on Let’s Go! The Cumbria Dog Walking Guide’ is available from Paragon’s Dalston surgery or to download on www.paragonvet.com/dogwalkingguide
