Henry Boot Plc Launch Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Strategy

Sheffield-headquartered Henry Boot PLC has set out a ‘deliberately ambitious’ strategy to create a fair, accessible, diverse and inclusive working environment.

The company has identified five priorities to achieve its equality, diversity & inclusion strategy and has called on its current employees to play an active role.

The priorities include being led by diverse, inclusive and effective leaders who embrace the challenge of increasing diversity and adapting its recruitment processes to attract a diverse talent pool.

Henry Boot has said it will promote a culture where difference is celebrated and where everyone can contribute, be themselves, be respected and fulfil their potential.

The company will ensure that its people can develop and progress in their careers and commit to its equality, diversity & inclusion strategy in the community.

Rachel White, Head of Human Resources at Henry Boot PLC, explained: “Unlike other industries such as professional services or retail, the built environment sector has long struggled to attract a diverse audience, and leadership teams remain dominated by men.

“This week marks the launch of our new equality, diversity and inclusion strategy. It is exciting to see hard work from many talented colleagues come to fruition as we share the first details of what we hope to achieve over the years ahead.

“This is just the start of our challenge. We know that breaking down barriers and creating real change will take time, but we are ready and willing to put the time and effort in to create authentic and long-lasting change in our business.”

Henry Boot’s equality, diversity & inclusion strategy is a key element of 135 Henry Boot – phase one of the company’s new Responsible Business Strategy that marks its 135th year in business while laying the foundations for its evolving outlook for the future.

135 Henry Boot will focus on three core initiatives objectives: building community engagement, launching a plan to produce net-zero carbon, and developing diversity and inclusion, both within the business and local communities.
