How To Qualify For Affordable Housing In Fylde

Getting on the property ladder can be tough, luckily most responsible housebuilders release a certain number of affordable homes on new developments. These affordable homes are offered at a discount to the market rate as long as individuals meet the designated criteria set out by the local authority.

But how do you apply for these affordable homes, and where should you be looking in the Blackpool and Lytham St. Anne’s area?

One development is Miller Homes’ Blackfield Green which is based in Warton. The local housebuilder is dedicated to helping people buy the home of their dreams, as well as support the local community. To help house hunters get on the property ladder, Miller Homes’ Regional Sales Manager, Leanne Feeley is sharing details on how to apply for affordable housing, and who is eligible.

Leanne comments: “For affordable housing in Fylde, you must have a local connection to the area, this can involve living local over the last 3 years, have permanent employment in the area or have a close family association amongst other reasons.”

Leanne concludes that: “The final criteria is that potential house buyers will need a deposit to secure their property, this is typically 15% of the value of the home.”

Miller Homes has a number of affordable properties on its Blackfield Green development in Warton. Those who are eligible can choose from the Brock and Ribble house types, which are 2 and 3 bedroom homes. Prices start at £126,800, which means a deposit of 15%, just over £19,000, would be required.
