A determined Lancaster Lionesses team faced Keswick Falcons on their home pitch at Lancaster University Sports Centre rugby pitches. Keswick started strongly, using an effective kicking game, powerful forward runners, and some speedy youngsters out wide. However, the Lionesses’ defence stood firm, with a brutal blitz defence disrupting Keswick’s phase play and shutting down offloads. Despite this pressure, Keswick struck first, using their pace out wide to score the opening try.
Undeterred, the Lionesses responded with a strong kicking game to gain territory. After building through excellent phase play involving both backs and forwards around the 5-metre line, second-row Charlotte Hatch found space out left and crossed the line, levelling the score.

What followed was 40 minutes of pure arm wrestle. With numerous scrums and kick chases, the teams appeared evenly matched. In the second half, Keswick managed to break through the Lionesses’ defensive line and centre the ball, adding another try and extending their lead.
The final 10 minutes saw the Lionesses repeatedly knocking on Keswick’s door, applying relentless pressure. However, Keswick’s defence held firm, securing a hard-fought 12–5 victory. It was a brilliant game all round, with a nail-biting second half that could have gone either way.
