Week 2 Roundup: ParalympicsGB At The 2026 Milano Cortina Games


The 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Paralympic Games came to a close this week, with ParalympicsGB competing in Wheelchair Curling and Para Alpine Skiing.

ParalympicsGB won a silver medal (Para Alpine Skiing Men’s VI Super Combined).

Monday 9th March: Day 3

Menna Fitzpatrick and her guide, Katie Guest, finished 6th in the Para Alpine Skiing Women’s VI Super-G final with a time of 1:25.52.

ParalympicsGB’s Wheelchair Curling Mixed Team fell to two tight defeats on day 3 of the games after they lost 6-7 to Korea before falling to a 5-6 loss against Sweden.

In the Para Alpine Skiing Men’s VI Super-G final, Neil Simpson and his guide, Rob Poth, finished 4th with a time of 1:14.39, whilst Fred Warburton and his guide, James Hannan, finished 12th with a time of 1:24.03.

The Wheelchair Curling Mixed Doubles were unable to progress to the semifinals after they lost their final round robin match 10-11 to Italy, so they finished 5th with 3 wins from 7 matches.

Tuesday 10th March: Day 4

In the Para Alpine Skiing Women’s VI Super Combined, Fitzpatrick and her guide, Guest, finished run 1 (Super-G) with a time of 1:30.44 before she finished run 2 (Slalom) with a time of 50.44 to leave her 9th overall with a total time of 2:20.88.

The Wheelchair Curling Mixed Team fell to a 6-8 loss against Italy in their sixth round robin match to leave them on 1 win from 6 with 3 matches remaining.

Simpson and his guide Poth, and Warburton and his guide Hannan, competed in run 1 (Super-G) of the Para Alpine Skiing Men’s VI Super Combined, with Warburton finishing with a DNF whilst Simpson finished 4th with a time of 1:14.55.

In the slalom run of the Para Alpine Skiing Men’s VI Super Combined final, Warburton and his guide Hannan finished with a DNF, whilst Simpson and his guide Poth’s run of 42.52 secured them the silver medal with a total time of 1:57.07.

Wednesday 11th March: Day 5

The Wheelchair Curling Mixed Team fell to a 4-9 defeat against the reigning Paralympic champions, China, before they lost 5-8 to Latvia in their penultimate round robin match.

Thursday 12th March: Day 6

In the Para Alpine Skiing Women’s Giant Slalom medal event, Menna Fitzpatrick and her guide Katie Guest finished 6th with a total time of 2:36.51, whilst Hester Poole and her guide Ali Hall ended both runs 1 and 2 with a DNF.

The Wheelchair Curling Mixed Team rounded off their Paralympic campaign with a 2-9 loss to Norway to finish the round robin event in 10th with 1 win from 9 games.

Friday 13th March: Day 7

In the Para Snowboard Banked Slalom SB-LL2 event, Nina Sparks finished 10th with a first run time of 1:13.23 and a second run time of 1:12.79.

In the Men’s Banked Slalom SB-UL Para Snowboard event, James Barnes-Miller finished 7th, whilst Matt Hamilton finished 11th before Davy Zyw finished 19th.

In the Men’s Banked Slalom SB-LL2 event, Ollie Hill finished 7th with a first run time of 58.23 before a second run time of 58.30.

In the medal event of the Para Alpine Skiing Men’s Giant Slalom VI event, Fred Warburton and his guide, James Hannan, finished 12th with a total time of 2:38.97, whilst Neil Simpson and his guide, Rob Poth, as well as Sam Cozens and his guide, Adam Hall, both finished with DNF.

In the Para Alpine Skiing Men’s Giant Slalom Standing medal event, Dominic Allen finished 25th with a first run time of 1:20.66 before he finished his second run time of 1:20.69.

In the Para Biathlon Men’s Sitting Sprint Pursuit qualification Scott Meenagh finished 15th with a time of 9:33.6 before he finished 14th in the final with a time of 12:09.0.

Saturday 14th March: Day 8

In run 1 of the Para Alpine Skiing Women’s VI Slalom, Menna Fitzpatrick and her guide Katie Guest finished 5th with a total time of 47.37 before Hester Poole and her guide Ali Hall were disqualified.

In run 2 of the Women’s VI Slalom, Menna Fitzpatrick and her guide Katie Guest finished 5th with a time of 1:35.67.

Sunday 15th March: Day 9

In the Para Cross-Country Skiing Men’s 20km Interval Start Sitting event, Scott Meenagh finished 15th with a time of 57:49. 7.

In the Para Alpine Skiing Men’s Slalom VI medal event, Neil Simpson and his guide Rob Poth DNFd, whilst Sam Cozens and his guide Adam Hall finished 12th after a first run time of 55.97 and a second run time of 52.95.

In the Para Alpine Skiing Men’s Slalom Standing medal event, Dominic Allen finished 19th after a run 1 time of 55.94 and a run 2 time of 50.05.
