Artist Says "Thank You" To The Queen

An artist from North Duffield, whose paintings have raised over £250k for 30 charities, received a letter of thanks for all her work from the late Queen, only a month ago, is planning another portrait to mark the passing of the Queen.

After she had painted The Jubilee High Tea, (read the story HRH Queen Elizabeth) the Queen wrote to thank her for all her charity work. The Jubilee High Tea was donated to the Harbour Place charity in Grimsby, a centre for rough sleepers and homeless people of North East Lincolnshire.

Since having eye surgery, Shany Hagan has taken on a number of big projects, and has a remarkable plan to simply say 'thank you' for the life of Queen Elizabeth II.

As a sign of her respect for the Queen she has started work on another portrait of Her Majesty to be placed outside Buckingham Palace next weekend.

Shany started painting two years ago after having eye surgery and as a unique way of giving something back after the NHS restored her vision through a miracle operation.

The artist, who works tirelessly for charitable causes and is a supporting artist at Emmerdale, since 1998, has recently completed a portrait of one of the stars of the hit soap.

Shany told us:
“Sally Dexter, who plays Faith in the programme, is one of the kindest stars I've ever known. I wanted to paint a very special painting for her as a reminder of all the supporting artists who adore her.”

She made the presentation outside the famous Woolpack pub and apparently Sally was "blown away" with the gift and the painting.

Shany also took along two prints that Jeff Hordley who plays, Cain, signed along with Sally.

Shany said:
“I will be donating one to York carers centre, Harry Gration helped this Charity and Autism.”

Along with her love of painting Shany will often be out running and walking for various charities.
