We are already in the last week of February, and we end the month with more Yorkshire action as we await another weekend.
Here are our picks on what to expect from another bumper midweek of sports.
Tuesday 24th February Sky Bet Championship: Hull City v Derby County 19:45
Kicking things off this week is a battle towards the top end of the championship as Hull City look to extend their buffer in the playoffs against a Derby County side in need of a win to break through into the top six.
The Tigers are currently in fifth place and sit among a heavily congested playoff picture in which just five points separate sixth and third. Despite the closeness within the playoffs, Hull do still have a healthy buffer of five points between them and Birmingham in seventh.
That gap could have been much larger if it wasn’t for a recent dip in form that has seen Hull winless in three Championship matches. Just one point from Watford at home is all to shout about in East Yorkshire since the start of February, with disappointing losses to Bristol and, most recently, QPR tampering with what has still undoubtedly been a very positive campaign so far.
Derby’s season is similar in many ways—a side with little expectation levelled at them but one that is proving doubters wrong by being within touching distance of a playoff campaign.
The Rams are three points off that elusive sixth spot and now look to breathe down Wrexham’s neck or even overtake the Dragons with a victory.
Their form, while not the most consistent, has been more than worthy of a shout to compete with the best. Three losses since the turn of the year in the league is a fantastic record for a side that is only two seasons on from competing in League One.
Losing 2-0 to Watford at the weekend allowed the Hornets to reach level points with Derby, and it is now up to the Rams to create some distance. Not only must the Rams close the gap with Watford, but also with the six teams below them, who are all within a mere three points and too close for comfort.
A win for either would be more comforting than anything at this stage, and it's Derby who can take more comfort in the fact that they have already bested Hull this season. A 2-1 away loss for Hull at Pride Park could be rectified in front of a home crowd that will be hoping they can see their side's first win since the 31st of January.

Wednesday 25th February Sky Bet Championship: Sheffield United v Coventry 19:45
We stay in the Championship on Wednesday for a match that could have a significant impact on the top end of the table.
We featured Coventry’s match against another Yorkshire side in Middlesbrough last week, which the Sky Blues went on to win 3-1. Sheffield United, a team languishing in 16th place and seeking to gain some momentum, presents an easier opponent this week.
It has been a worrisome season for United, who have turned back to the stewardship of club legend Chris Wilder in order to steady the ship following an early-season collapse which saw them stuck in the relegation zone under Ruben Selles.
Since his appointment things have picked up, and the Blades now sit in 16th, but the task of taking something from this season is likely out of the picture unless a miracle can occur. Just one loss in their last five is an improvement on their horrid January form, in which they lost three on the spin and could only conjure up two victories.
It will be a test of their resolve if they can overcome a Coventry side that is now looking back to their best following a strain in results.
After a three-game winless run at the end of January, the Sky Blues are unbeaten in three and have back-to-back wins over Middlesbrough and West Brom.
Now with a three-point gap at the top of the table, Coventry now look once again in pole position to clinch the title. But, as we all know, in the Championship, fates are decided on a week-to-week basis, and there is no ruling out a Blades win, which would heavily disrupt the top two picture and potentially help Boro stay on track.
For Sheffield a result would not do much to steer their fortunes towards success, as they are now nine points from the playoffs and the same margin from the relegation zone, so attentions may now turn to how they can improve ready for next year and how they can shake things up for the remaining months of this season.

Thursday 26th February BetMGM Premier League Darts: Luke Littler v Jonny Clayton 19:10
We have only seen three nights of Premier League action in 2026, but already there appear to be stories and pockets of drama forming within the eight competitors.
One of the stories is Jonny Clayton's continued good form, as he heads into night four at the top of the league after winning a match in Glasgow last week.
The Welshman has already racked up five wins in total, including a dominating 6-2 win in the final last week against Gian van Veen.
Luke Littler finds himself in the midst of a slow start to his Premier League campaign, with a record of three wins and two losses leaving last year’s losing semi-finalist in sixth spot.
The Nuke will be hoping to return to his best in a campaign that has already seen him defend his world title and subsequently go on to lift both the Saudi and World Masters already in 2026.
The two met only last week in Glasgow for the semifinal, which ended in a comprehensive 6-1 win for Clayton. It will be interesting to see if lessons have been learned enough for a closer matchup, or if Clayton continues his fast start against an opponent he has only beaten twice in six meetings.

Friday 27th February Betfred Super League: Hull FC v York Knights 20:00
Another Yorkshire derby rounds off the midweek, as Super League newcomers York look to build on an overall positive start to their first season back in the top flight with a short trip to the East Riding and the MKM Stadium.
The Super League expansion has seen three new sides enter the fray for 2026, and it was a welcome to remember for the Knights, who bested treble winners and current club world champions Hull KR at the York Community Stadium.
Ata Hingano, on his Super League debut, secured the win with a game-changing drop goal just four minutes from full time, resulting in a historic 19-18 victory for a side expected to be relegated to the bottom of the table.
The Knights did not go on to replicate such feats when they faced Leeds Rhinos, a side with top-six ambitions who flexed their muscles in Headingley and ran out 46-14 winners.
While it may have been an expected defeat, some were shocked with the manner of the loss against a Rhino’s side laden with injuries, but there are still positives to take for a York side still finding their feet at this level.
Hull have already shown they have the beating of the new blood in Super League after their opening round matchup with Bradford Bulls ended in a 27-20 win for the Black & Whites.
The start of 2026 has been stop-start for those in East Yorkshire, with the win against the Bulls preceded by a comprehensive 60-0 victory over Salford in the Challenge Cup.
Then it was time to face a Wigan Warriors side looking to return to the top of the ladder, which led to proceedings looking more fraught as Hull were sent packing across the Pennines, having suffered a 34-6 loss.
While FC will be the favourites, it will be interesting to see how York fares again and whether they can build on their opening night victory or if it will prove to be a freak result.
