The weekend has been and gone, but by no means does that indicate a slowing down of drama on the pitch, court or oche.
From Monday to Friday, there are options in all corners of the sporting landscape to see through another working week with continued excitement.
Monday 9th February, Sky Bet Championship: Sheffield United v Middlesbrough, 20:01
We start the week with a Yorkshire derby in the steel city as Middlesbrough head to South Yorkshire looking to go top of the table against a Sheffield United side fighting in mid-table.
Boro are sitting pretty in the Championship automatic promotion places, four points away from Ipswich in third and a single point away from the leaders, Coventry.
Swedish coach Kim Hellberg has led Boro to these heights with already two purple patches on Teesside, where his side has won four consecutive league matches. The latest run is one they are in currently, where they have won at West Brom, Stoke and Preston before an impressive but expected 1-0 victory over one of the form teams, Norwich.
Sheffield United’s season has been one of inconsistency. After Ruben Selles’ failed reign at the start of the season and a less than stellar summer transfer window, it has been down to fan favourite Chris Wilder once more, who has come in to steady the ship.
Wilder took over the team when the Blades were in the relegation zone and has since overseen an upturn of fortunes that now has them in 15th place but still far off from where they want to be.
The start of 2026 was one to forget for the Blades; after beating Leicester on New Year's Day, it was three consecutive defeats that scuppered a quick start to the second half of the season. But things have been looking more positive since then, with three games unbeaten, including an unexpected victory over automatic promotion hopefuls Ipswich and a 3-1 win over Oxford at the weekend.
Both sides will be boosted by their January transfer business that could feature in this one, including standout signings such as Leo Castledine and Jeremy Sarmiento for Boro as well as former England international Kalvin Phillips and another former Leeds United player in Joe Rothwell for Sheffield United.
The last time the two sides met in August, it ended with a 1-0 home victory for Middlesbrough. Many will be expecting the same result, but results are never easy to predict in the championship, so a shock could be on the cards at Bramall Lane.

Tuesday 10th February Premier League: Chelsea v Leeds United 19:30
An old rivalry is reignited in the Premier League this week as Stamford Bridge hosts a Leeds United side in good form and looking to escape a relegation fight.
Chelsea ran out 3-1 winners over Wolves at the weekend, which has kept their top-four dreams alive with just one point separating them and Manchester United in fourth.
Chelsea's new manager, Liam Rosenior, has been a welcome addition and appears to have uplifted the team's spirits, as evidenced by just two losses to Arsenal in both legs of the EFL Cup semifinal, marking the only setback in a positive streak of four consecutive league wins.
Leeds, a team that appeared doomed in November, is now on a solid run of form, having only lost twice in 13 games.
That run has included impressive wins over Crystal Palace and Fulham alongside much-needed stalemates over Liverpool and Manchester United.
The standout result for the Whites has been their 3-1 win over Chelsea, who travelled to Elland Road under the lights and were handed a 3-1 defeat in a result that put ex-Chelsea boss Maresca’s job at risk.
Daniel Farke’s Leeds have shown they can fight toe-to-toe with the best in the league, but their away record leaves a lot to be desired, with just one win in twelve away from West Yorkshire.
Chelsea do not have a great home record this season; however, with six wins in 12, that has them just below Leeds in terms of their record at their home. Either way this game goes, it could be a starting gun for a change of fortunes and a chance for the two clubs to creep ever closer to their goals of survival or Champions League qualification.

Thursday 12th February PDC Premier League: Luke Littler v Luke Humphries 19:10
Night two of the PDC Premier League is serving up another thriller in Belgium this week after the maiden night saw Michael Van Gerwen claim victory on Tyneside.
Two men who will be hoping to get off the mark in terms of nightly wins are the two Lukes who have been taking the world of darts by storm and who have many expectations to be in and around the title race come May.
Littler has made a less than fruitful start to the competition after being knocked out in the opening round at the Utilitia Arena by eventual finalist and World Championship finalist Gian van Veen.
The match ended 6-4 to van Veen after Littler missed a decisive dart to level the match. That was Littler’s first loss in nine matches after a good start to the year, which saw him beat Humphries 6-5 in the World Masters final at the start of February.
Humphries also lost to an eventual finalist on night one, in the form of darting icon Michael van Gerwen, who smashed the world number two 6-2 in the semifinal.
The former World Champion has been somewhat disappointing thus far in 2026 with back-to-back quarter-final exits in the Bahrain and Saudi Masters to Nathan Aspinall and Gerwyn Price, respectively.
Cool Hand Luke will also be hoping for revenge after the aforementioned Masters final loss to Littler, and with the chance to get one up on a rival so early on in the competition, there is no question both will be looking to get off the mark effectively as one of the best competitions in darts heats up.

Friday 13th February Betfred Super League: Leigh Leopards v Leeds Rhinos 20:00
The opening round of the Super League season is upon us, and with it, a litany of drama. As campaigns begin with renewed hope and a full season ahead to make dreams come true, we start with a meeting of two teams hoping to be in the top eight come the end.
Leigh finished one place below the top two last season with 39 points, just three away from Wigan Warriors. The Leopards defeated Wakefield in the playoff final, but Wigan again defeated them in the semis in a close 18-6 match.
Their opening match of the new season came in the Challenge Cup last weekend when they made the trip across the border to Wales to face North Wales Crusaders, in a match that showed their Super League pedigree as the Leopards ran out convincing 60-6 winners.
The Rhino’s Challenge Cup campaign started with a less than stellar display over Widnes Vikings as Brad Arthur’s men returned back over the Pennines with a 25-12 victory.
While many were expecting another huge scoreline in the early rounds, the Rhinos now leave that behind them and focus on the beginning of a season full of more expectations for a side looking to better their fourth-place finish from last year.
Leeds finished three points off Leopards in that season and were knocked out narrowly by St Helens after squandering a six-point lead at half-time to lose 16-14.
Leigh failed to beat the Rhinos in both meetings last year, but with squads and ambitions altered and updated, it could be the start of a turnaround and for either Leigh to prove some people wrong or for Leeds to continue their winning run of four straight wins over the Leopards.
