More action from around the county and beyond awaits this midweek. There is something for everyone to make the workdays go a little faster, whether on the pitch or the oche.

Tuesday 10th March Sky Bet Championship: Wrexham v Hull City 19:45

We seem to be talking about the Championship playoffs every week, but with such a wealth of drama and stories nestled within them, it is impossible not to.

This week is no different, as we have a battle between 5th and 6th and two sides that are hoping to cling on to their spots as the season reaches its apex.

Hull find themselves in the more favourable position of the two, sitting fifth with a three-point gap to Wrexham and a healthy six-point buffer to Derby in seventh.

After a disappointing start to February, City appeared to be turning the tide with back-to-back wins to round off the month. March has not been a continuance of momentum, however, as they are still yet to pick up a point this month after a 1-0 loss to Ipswich was followed by a bitter 3-1 loss to fellow playoff hopefuls Millwall.

Wrexham will be hoping they can add to the Hull slide by continuing their good form that has seen them unbeaten in four Championship matches.

The Dragons have already shown that they can dispatch those higher than them with two victories over promotion chasers Ipswich and a stunningly dogged display against Chelsea in the FA Cup, which they only lost in extra time.

With a three-point gap separating them and Derby, it is up to Wrexham to solidify themselves in the playoffs with a win and potentially do the unthinkable and gain four consecutive promotions.

Hull will be no pushovers, however, and with their place looking more comfortable for the time being, they could play with more freedom. But with their form hanging in the balance, they are not in the best place currently to take on another top-six threat.

Wednesday 11th March Sky Bet Championship: Norwich City v Sheffield United 19:45

Sheffield United is transitioning from one end of the Championship to the other as they travel to East Anglia to take on a Norwich side that is currently in excellent form.

The Blades are clambering in mid-table and in desperate need of some consistency, with an early-season struggle keeping them away from a real playoff charge.

Sat in 11th and eight points clear of sixth is nowhere near the place The Blades wanted to be at this stage. But it is still a far cry from being second from the bottom of the league, which is where they found themselves at one stage.

Despite a somewhat stop-start season, United have lost just once in their last five matches to top-of-the-league Coventry.

Their most recent match ended in a 1-1 draw with West Brom, a disappointing outcome given that a victory could have brought them closer to the playoffs.

A win over Norwich could bring the same hopes for the top six, but they are up against a Norwich side currently in a miraculous turnaround that has seen them rise from relegation candidates to one of the most in-form sides in the division.

Despite still sitting in 17th place, the Canaries are third in the form table and have only lost two of their last 9 matches. A remarkable run for a side still in the bottom half and one that Sheffield will have to overcome if they are to attempt to kick on with a push for a potential miracle.

While the top six may be a pipe dream for The Blades, a victory would nevertheless spell a vital improvement for Chris Wilder’s men, who will be looking to cement squad harmony and efficiency for the remainder of the campaign.

Thursday 12th March BetMGM Premier League: Luke Humphries v Gian van Veen 20:10

We return to the Darts Premier League again this week for a sixth night of action between the eight best throwers around.

Stepping up to the oche in the third quarter-final of the day are Luke Humphries and Gian van Veen, a duo that has a history on the biggest stages.

Humphries, who has struggled to secure a nightly win and only managed three victories throughout the entire campaign, comes to Nottingham with a sense of determination. Cool Hand was expected to be a frontrunner during his title defence, but thus far he has failed to even make a nightly final.

It is without doubt that Humphries has the talent and pedigree to lift himself back up and into the top four, but he will have to start the comeback against an opponent in van Veen that holds no punches against Humphries and who has already shown his prowess this tournament.

The Young Dutchman currently sits in second position behind Johnny Clayton with six wins from 11 matches. Like Humphries, he is winless, but he has tried, as the current Youth World Champion has already been in three of the five finals.

Being a perennial nearly man is no comfortable place to be, and Humphries will be sure to try to capitalise on that. Despite his own pressures as the reigning champion, Cool Hand knows that another duel with Van Veen will be the last thing he needs.

Gian has recently gained the upper hand over Humphries, winning seven out of the last eight matches. They have already faced each other four times in 2026, with Humphries picking up his only win in a 5-0 thrashing during the PDC World Masters.

Humphries will be hopeful of a similar display, but with Gian being seemingly on the cusp of a nightly win, he could fall once more to a competitor that knows all too well how to get the victory over him.

Venue: Motorpoint Arena, Nottingham

Friday 13th March Betfred Challenge Cup: Wakefield Trinity v Leeds Rhinos 20:00

The Challenge Cup's fourth round hosts an all-Super League tie as Wakefield hosts fellow West Yorkshire neighbours Leeds at Belle Vue.

Trinity have picked up from where they left off last year, with an already positive start to the season which has them in sixth in the Super League after four matches.

Two wins and two losses in league action is a good return for a side enjoying their second season back in the top flight. But Trinity, under the stewardship of Daryl Powell, will be looking for an improvement on their already impressive 6th-place finish in 2025.

One way to guarantee that improvement would be a deep run in the cup, which has kicked off well for Trinity in their first and only Challenge Cup match so far. Which saw Wakefield dismantle Swinton Lions 82-6 in early February.

The visit of Leeds will be a far cry from the ease of lower league opposition, however, as the Rhinos have made a storming start to proceedings in 2026, with just a single loss to Leigh being the only black mark.

Three consecutive wins in the league have seen the Rhinos set a fast early pace while dispatching sides they are expected to be beating, such as York and rivals Castleford.

Their expert showing in Vegas saw them dismantle a quadruple-winning Hull KR side 58-6. The Rhinos' confidence will grow with a result that lets them shine globally and progress in the cup.

Leeds also had the luxury of lower opposition in the previous round, where they faced Widnes Vikings. It was not the free-scoring affair we expected, with just 13 points separating the two in a 25-12 victory for the boys from Headingley.

With a more even matchup coming this round, the jury is still out on who can take the spoils into the pot for the draw. But there will certainly be high-octane rugby on display from two sides that are no strangers to pushing the boat out and executing free-flowing, effective rugby.
